Janai Allen

Founder/CEO/Studio Director

Janai Allen began dancing at the age of four and it has been her passion ever since.
Janai has trained under various well esteemed choreographers within the New York area. In addition to her experience both training and competing in Gymnastics and Step where she was awarded several awards and recognitions.
Janai is trained in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Praise, African, African -Jazz, Gymnastics, Step  Lyrical , and Carribean Movement dance. Her first opportunity to Choreograph, and direct wardrobe  was with ZMK Dance Company for a premiere in a half time show for the NY Liberty WNBA team at Madison Square Gardens. She soon afterwards became Artistic Director. Janai has come to find that her passion not only lies with performing dance, but to choreograph and direct dance. To be able to empower young dancer’s  and give them the opportunity to learn in a healthy , encouraging , and positive atmosphere.  With that passion she graduated from college with her degree in Business in pursuit of her dreams to run her own dance company or open her own dance school.
Janai's teaching experience has allowed her an opportunity to teach at several schools and studios in different states such as P.S 15, P.S 59, D&D, Uniondale High School, Ultimate Dance Studio in NY, Bright Avenues in WA, Zenith learning in TX to name a few. She worked for Ultimate Dance Studio for 2 years as the head dance teacher to becoming full owner and director of the studio after the third year. With much joy Janai decided to take the responsibilities and change the name to Unique Styles Dance Studio which she has successfully ran for 6 years.  Her students on the company team and her choreography has placed Top 5-high point category in each competition her studio has attended. With all the achievements that Janai Allen has made her biggest achievements is seeing her students grow and blossom from what she has  taught them. 
Janai Allen strives for excellence!  She plans to make starting with the 6th year with now Co-owner Jovoni Serrano a powerful and successful venture. Unique Artistry with Excellence moving in a different direction than the rest!

Jovoni Serrano

CEO/Artistic Director/USDS Fashion Designer

Jovoni began her dancing career at the age of three at Dance Theatre of Harlem.

She has trained with many dance instructors around the United States and

has competed and performed all over the state of Florida, Dallas, TX and New York. She has performed during the  televised Orange Bowl Half-time show as a backup dancer for Shaggy, The Dixie Chicks plus more.

She has trained at Dance Plus, Universal Dance Academy, Broadway Dance Center, John Casablanca's

and earned a full scholarship to attend The Harlem School of the Arts. She has always had a great interest in the performing arts with the love of not only dance but acting and modeling. Jovoni was a model as an infant even having callbacks for "Pampers" commercials. During high school was recognized and awarded "Best Choreographer"  in a musical. She had performed in several musical theatre productions. Also, at a  young age danced in several holiday performances  of  "The Nutcracker Suite."  When she became older she would audition then to earn the solo parts to performed on pointe as the "Snow Queen" and the "Columbine Doll." Jovoni is trained in Ballet, Pointe,Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Lyrical, Gymnastics, Musical Theater, Horton, African, Praise and Drama. Upon completion of her studies, Jovoni was interviewed and hired as a dance teacher for both P.S 15 and I.S. 59. In 2011 she was honored with the "Teaching Artist Award" from the Urban Stages Outreach Program in New York City for teaching dance at Harlem Day Charter School. She teaches in dance studios located in both New York and Florida. She also conducts semi-private dance classes in Manhattan at Horizons Studios. She has a passion for fashion. She received the Best Costume award in 2013 for her jazz routine from "That's Entertainment Dance Nationals Championships" held in Atlantic City. A promotional model since 2010 she became a supervisor for The Uno Modeling Agency located in NYC in 2013. She is proudly now the Co-Owner of Unique Styles Dance Studio as well as a Dance Instructor and the Artistic Director for the Unique Movement Competition Teams.

 It is the experience and knowledge of the arts that she continues to share and is proud to give back to her students today.

 

Jenelle Serrano

Lyrical/Contemporary Instructor/Audio&Visual Editing Engineer

Jenelle has studied dance since the age of two and has been dancing ever since . Jenelle has had the opportunity to trained with many instructors such as actor/choreographer Darrin Henson, Mia Michaels and more. She has competed all over the state of Florida. Having numerous awards noted on her resume.  She has performed during the holidays in "The Nutcracker Suite" first as a tiny ballet dancer to within just a few years landing the principal role as one of the main characters "Clara." At the age eleven she was awarded "3rd overall" for Dance Masters of America. As a youngster she performed as a group backup dancer in an Orange Bowl for such artists as Shaggy, The Dixie Chicks and more. She is featured in the Michael Jackson's Official Music fan-based video "Behind The Mask." Also, she began at the of age forteen working as a runway and print model. She has walked the catwalk in numerous shows in NYC, Atlanta and Florida. She has been photographed for promotional ads, billboards and a high-glossy centerspread for an exclusive magazine.

Jenelle is trained in Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Modern/Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, HipHop. African, Acro and Circus.

With the love of the performing arts, she also enjoys singing and is a gifted artist.

Halima Boykin

Ballet/Creative Movement Dance Instructor-Tiny Tots

Halima Boykin, first began her dance career at the age of fifteen at JCAL dance center where she studied Hip Hop. After a year at JCAL she joined Edge School Of The Arts also known as ESOTA to study various generes of dance including African, Hip Hop and Jazz.  At the age of eighteen she attended Keep Empowering Youth Achievements also known as K.E.Y.A dance school, where she once again studied various genres of dance including Modern, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, African  and even more genres. Today Ms. Boykin is a choreographer at Unique Styles Dance Studio (USDS) where she teaches classes such as: Ballet and Creative Movement.

Natasha "Tash" Phidd

Break-Dance/Hip Hop Instructor

Natasha “Tash” Phidd hails from Baldwin Harbor, NY. She first found her passion for dance during her freshman year at Princeton University, where she first learned the art of breaking. As her b-girl skills developed, she went on to compete in several jams both within the local community and on campus. Tash’s interest in dance took off exponentially, such that she actively danced in multiple campus groups and took a multitude of dance classes both on and off of campus. During her senior year, Tash’s passion for dance pushed her to not only grow further in the styles of breaking and hip-hop, but to also branch out into contemporary and lyrical styles in order to expand her movement vocabulary. After college, Tash became an active member of Mint Dance Company, a New York City-based competitive hiphop dance crew that aims to bring something new to the dance community. With Mint, Tash has performed in multiple competitions including World of Dance:New Jersey, Prelude NJ, Evolution Urban Dance Competition, and SAYAW Dance Competition. Additionally, Tash has taught multiple workshops and classes in the NYC area and has choreographed several performance pieces for dance groups at Princeton University as an alumna. Tash just likes to have fun; she emphasizes individuality in the studio and in everyday life. Ultimately, Tash wants to use dance as a way to inspire others and to bring about a true sense of community.

Gracen Hansen

Ballet Instructor

Gracen has been dancing almost all her life, her favorite style being Ballet, she is in her second year at Hofstra University double majoring in Dance and Public Relations. Gracen has been a two time All American Nominee for National Dance Alliance, and is so excited to begin teaching in a studio setting

Ms. Dee

Public Relations/Publicist

She has many years of management positions for various retail/specialty stores in NYC, including dept. mgr, store mgr, coordinating and creating  store window displays.

Inspired by entrepreneurial influences from both sides of the family. Several years as a Sales Director for a renown beauty and cosmetics company. Had built and lead her team of consultants and mid-mgmt unit members  who resided across the entire USA including US Territories. Has taught and shared her knowledge both locally and regionally for workshops and other platformed teaching events.. Has organized charity events for women's forums such as Breast Cancer Awareness and sponsored events for the American Diabetes Association.

Launched a few businesses as CEO and co-owner of modeling agencies, produced the first-time ever SWFL Fashion Week receiving a Proclamation from the Mayor. Also, created and produced that event's consecutive year show,  other various  fashion shows/designer/creative coordinator, fashion/art gallery shows/events and extravaganzas, music/entertainment  and promotional productions. She has been televised and interviewed on numerous SWFL local based news and morning programs. Has been  personally covered as  the featured stories for some local as well as  other Florida  areas in upscale magazines and newspapers. Her agency's  featured models/talent have  had numerous fashion spreads.

 

Currently, added another project, PR/Publicist for upcoming Euro-Dance Music recording duo artists.

 

Having an appetite for investments...Just launched a Realty Investors LLC with her three children.

 

Ms. Dee is exciting looking forward to seeing USDS blossom into an influential and positive dancing force producing studio of  UNIQUE and elite dancers!!

Medinah Elamin

Studio Office Assistant

Medinah El-Amin, was born February 6, 1995, first began her dance career at the age of 15 at Keep Empowering Youth Achievement (K.E.Y.A.) where she studied various genres such as hip hop, jazz, modern, tap, ballet and african. She studied there for four years and today she studies at Unique Styles Dance Studio (USDS) where she is practicing tap, hip hop and gymnastics. She is also Unique Styles Office Assistant.

LaToya Brown

Marketing/Promotional Assissant

Latoya Brown has been a part of the Unique Styles Dance Studio family since 2007.  During this time her love for the art of dance grew into a way of life. 

Latoya is the mother of three beautiful girls who turn any space into their personal stage.  Her three girls are dancers on The Unique Movement Competition Teams (UM & UMMinis.) She balances their dance schedule with running her pet concierge service Fabpuplously Chic Pet Boutique. 

Latoya is an active member of the USDS Parents Council and serves as the Marketing and Promotional Assistant for the school.  Latoya is studying pet product design and marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).
